Health centres in Himachal upgraded to Health and Wellness Centres

According to an official spokesman, out of a total of 2,042 health facilities, there were 1,154 Health Sub Centres, 418 Primary Health Centres, and 13 Urban Primary Health Centres, which have been upgraded to Health and Wellness Centers in the State.

Hamirpur: Under the ambit of the Ayushman Bharat Programme, as many as 2,042 health centres of Himachal Pradesh have been upgraded to Health and Wellness Centers in order to provide health care services at the doorsteps of the beneficiaries.

According to an official spokesman, out of a total of 2,042 health facilities, there were 1,154 Health Sub Centres, 418 Primary Health Centres, and 13 Urban Primary Health Centres, which have been upgraded to Health and Wellness Centers in the State.

He said, “All the Health and Wellness Centers have been provided desktops along with web cameras, speakers, and internet connectivity to provide teleconsultation services to the community to initiate thee-sanjeevani teleconsultation services.”

He said the state has completed more than 55,000 consultations on the thee-sanjeevani health and wellness centre portal, which is one of the highest in the country.

The government spokesperson said 712 Community Health Officers (CHOs) have been posted in various Health Sub Centers-Health and Wellness Centres along with 514 medical officers in various fully functional Health and Wellness Centers in the state.

The staff of these Health and Wellness Centers have been trained and are providing quality services in maternal health, child health, immunisation, adolescent health, non-communicable disease screening, family planning services, teleconsultation, etc, he said.

He said, “In order to maintain the supply chain of essential drugs in these centres; the procurement is being done through e-aushadhi portal.”

The spokesman pointed out that the state was among the first to onboard the e-sanjeevani OPD and e-sanjeevani HWC portals.

“The state has created three specialist hubs in medical colleges for imparting both specialist and super-specialist consultation in fields such as Cardiology, Neurology, Medicine, OBG, Pediatrics, Dermatology, Orthopedics, and Psychiatry. In addition to this, the state also runs 10 mobile HWCs by the name of ‘Jeevan-Dhara’,” he said.

New services like elderly and palliative health care, basic oral health care, and non-communicable diseases (NCD) screening for the 18-plus population has been recently introduced at these centers, he added.
