Lucknow:The Lucknow Bench of the Allahabad High Court has issued a notice to the Censor Board on a Public Interest Litigation (PIL) filed against the upcoming mythological film ‘Adipurush’ which is based on Ramayana.
The bench comprising Chief Justice Rajesh Bindal and Justice Brij Raj Singh said, “It has been pointed out that certificate for exhibiting the film ‘Adipurush’ is to be issued by respondent number 3 (Censor Board). Let notice be served on respondent no.3.”
The court has fixed February 21 as the next date of hearing. It may be noted that the PIL has been filed by Kuldeep Tiwari and another against Union of India and others. The order was passed on January 10.
Ranjana Agnihotri, the counsel of the litigant, said that the producers released the promo of the film without taking certificate from the Censor Board, which is violation of the rules. She said that the real form of Lord Ram and Sita has not been exhibited in the film Adipurush and they have been depicted in a different form.
She said that this has hurt the faith of the people. She said that the actress who plays Sita in the film is shown in indecent clothes. Objections have also been raised on the getup of Ravan in the PIL, she said.
Along with the producers and director Om Raut, the actors have also been made parties in the PIL. It may be mentioned here that the upcoming flick Adipurush is written and directed by Om Raut and produced by T-Series and Retrophiles. The movie which is shot simultaneously in Hindi and Telugu languages stars Prabhas as Raghava, Kriti Sanon as Janaki and Saif Ali Khan as Lankesh in the lead roles.
