Hyderabad: Telangana High Court on Monday dismissed a review petition filed by the state government seeking a stay on the Court’s earlier order banning immersion of Plaster of Paris (PoP) Ganesh idols in Hussainsagar lake in the city.

A Division bench comprising acting Chief Justice Ramachandra Rao and Justice Vinod Kumar, after lunch hour hearing, dismissed the petition filed by the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) Commissioner Lokesh Kumar urging the court to review its earlier order.

Finding fault with the affidavit filed by the GHMC Commissioner who stated that in the 25 ponds which were created in the city, immersion of bigger idols was not possible, the bench observed “you invited the problem and you have to face”.

The people aggrieved by the High Court’s decision could approach the Supreme Court, the bench said.
