Guwahati: The All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) in Guwahati is set to commence operations with 150 beds from April 14, following its inauguration by Prime Minister Narendra Modi on April 14.
Executive Director Ashok Puranik of the medical facility said that patient care services were launched in August last year with telemedicine and limited OPD services, while 85% of construction work has been completed.
Puranik added that the hospital will have a capacity of 750 beds within the next three to four years and will offer high-quality medical services in various specialties and super specialties, including cardiology, neurology, burns and plastic surgery, cardiothoracic and vascular surgery, and interventional radiology.
The AIIMS in Guwahati aims to provide state-of-the-art patient care, high-quality medical education, and cutting-edge research, benefiting not only Assam but also its neighbouring states of Nagaland, Arunachal Pradesh, Meghalaya, Mizoram, and Manipur.
