Guiyang: Southwest China’s Guizhou Province plans to have a total of 700,000 new energy vehicles (NEVs) in its fleet by 2026, with NEVs accounting for 40 percent of new vehicle sales.
Ao Hong, head of Guizhou’s department of industry and information technology, revealed the plan at a new energy industry conference held on Friday.
To improve the support infrastructure for NEVs, the province has proposed to build more charging and battery-swapping facilities in public parking areas such as large shopping malls, supermarkets and transportation hubs.
Despite its rugged landscape, Guizhou has witnessed rapid growth in NEV ownership, which had surged to 165,000 by the end of last year.
The province has achieved full coverage of charging stations in all townships.
