Ahmedabad:A Sunday night calls for a high-octane rendezvous and fans have that in store. Two teams who are off to an identical start this season, are set to resume a brewing rivalry, which came to life during the Qualifier 1 and final of 2022 IPL.
Gujarat Titans take on Rajasthan Royals at the Narendra Modi Stadium to culminate this weekend’s cricketing action.
Barring a few phases, Gujarat were dominant across all verticals in Mohali against Punjab Kings.
Shubman Gill and Mohit Sharma produced the big performances, while Rashid Khan, Wriddhiman Saha made some crucial contributions as well.
Not to forget, in the most nervy moment possible, ice-man Rahul Tewatia scooped the troubles far away to give Gujarat a third win in four matches.
The team has found a great balance right from the get-go. There is a good mix of caution and aggression, youth and experience – all ultimately helping Gujarat in crunch situations.
With every passing match, there’s a new Gujarat raising his hand and making his presence felt, strengthening the side furthermore. This is the kind of confidence a team would aspire for heading into a clash against an in-form.
Rajasthan kick-started their campaign with a huge win against Sunrisers Hyderabad. There was a minor stutter against Punjab, where they lost a cliff-hanger, but bounced back with wins against Delhi Capitals and Chennai Super Kings.
Skipper Sanju Samson and Jos Buttler are in lethal form, while their young Indian core is actively making crucial contributions as well.
Alzarri Joseph makes his ball do the talking and is off to a terrific start. Joseph, who picked up seven wickets last season, has snared as many in four matches this season at a great economy of 7.56.
Most importantly, Joseph is providing the big breakthroughs every time – getting rid of Ruturaj Gaikwad and Ravindra Jadeja vs CSK, David Warner vs DC, Nitish Rana and Venkatesh Iyer vs KKR.
Gujarat Captain Hardik Pandya needs 16 runs to complete 2,000 IPL runs.
Joseph needs one more wicket to complete 100 wickets in T20s.
Gill is 38 short of 3,000 T20 runs and he will become the youngest to reach this landmark.
Mohammad Shami dismissed Rajasthan’s Shimron Hetmyer four times in four innings, conceding only seven runs.
