Imphal: During Question hour on Tuesday, Water Resources Minister, Letpao Haokip informed the House that there are plans to take up restoration work for flood-affected rivers embankments. He was replying to a starred question raised by MLA, K Govindas. The Ministry of Jal Shakti ( Technical Advisory Committee (TAC) has approved the Pre & Post-flood control works on August 20, 2020 and Investment Clearance Committee has also been approved on October 22, 2020, the Minister added.
Education Minister, S Rajen while replying to a starred question raised by MLA, Surjakumar Okram, informed the House that the Education Department in view of the COVID19 pandemic took up the decision to open colleges from January 27, 2021. Minister also asserted that for safe and the smooth functioning of educational institutions, series of field visits, inspections, meetings with the Head of the institutions to check and maintain the COVID-19 SOPs were conducted and sanitisers and masks were also distributed.
He further said that students who returned back home due to COVID-19 pandemic and are willing to continue their studies in the state can enrol in any Government/ Government Aided colleges in Manipur.
Minister Rajen also informed the House that there are 45 recognized Government Colleges in Manipur, out of which, 39 are Government Colleges while 6 are Aided Colleges. He further said the proposal for conversion of the following Private Colleges viz. Regional College, Lilong Chajing and Western College, Konthoujam into Government Aided Colleges have been considered and approved by the State Cabinet.
The House moved the motion on Three Financial Committees namely Committee on Public Accounts, Committee on Estimates and Committee on Public Undertakings.
