Govt giving priority to health sector: Dr Ranjan

Ranjan stated that the Government has introduced many welfare schemes. The health sector is given priority. The public should have knowledge and awareness of the benefits of the health and medical schemes of the Government. The Government is also providing cost-effective generic medicines which have its standard efficacy. Such health schemes have helped to those who are living with low income, he added.

Imphal: Health & IPR Minister Dr. Sapam Ranjan Singh said that Free Diagnostic and Free Medicine Schemes of the Government should reach to the common people. Minister was speaking as chief guest at the Launching cum awareness program on gender-based violence and medicolegal care for survivors, and victims of sexual violence held at Hotel Imphal today. 

Ranjan stated that the Government has introduced many welfare schemes. The health sector is given priority. The public should have knowledge and awareness of the benefits of the health and medical schemes of the Government. The Government is also providing cost-effective generic medicines which have its standard efficacy. Such health schemes have helped to those who are living with low income, he added.   

He maintained that concerned officials of the Health Department should be sincere in availing the benefits of the various health schemes to the public. The medicines supplied to the Government hospitals should be distributed to the visiting patients. Coordination amongst the health officials is required. Department of Social Welfare and Health Department also need to work together, the Minister suggested.

Speaking as President on the occasion Commissioner, Health, Government of Manipur, Shri Pradeep Kumar Jha, IAS, asserted that mutual respect between different genders will help to prevent gender-based violence. The idea of gender equality among us is also required. Awareness in this regard is also necessary for the timely prevention of gender-based violence, he added.

Director, Family Welfare Services, Manipur, Dr. L. Tomcha Khuman, Director, Social Welfare Ng. Uttam Singh and State Mission Director, NHM, Manipur, Dr. Somorjit Ningombam also attended the occasion as guests of honour.
