New Delhi: Congress leader Priyanka Gandhi Vadra on Tuesday took a dig at the Centre over its asset monetisation plan saying the Union government is giving away national assets to its “friends”.
Vadra said while the government gave the rhetoric of self-reliance, it made the entire government dependent on its “billionaire friends”.
“All work (is being done) for those billionaire friends, all wealth is for them,” she said in a tweet.
“The assets worth Lakhs of Crores, created by people of the country over 70 years, are being given away by the government to its billionaire friends,” she said.
Finance minister Nirmala Sitharaman on Monday announced the union government’s plan to raise Rs 6 lakh crore under the National Monetisation Pipeline. It serves as a road map for asset sales by the government.
