Imphal: Governor of Manipur, La Ganesan, and Chief Minister N. Biren Singh led the way in greeting the people of Manipur on the happy and auspicious occasion of “Cheiraoba”, 2022.
In his Cheiraoba message Governor Ganesan said that “for the Hindu Meiteis, Cheiraoba symbolizes the coming of a New Year and is a festival celebrated by every household with great enthusiasm and gaiety. This festival represents the change of guards, where the old gives way to the new, and with the arrival of spring which makes the landscape green, it rekindles hopes for a better life”
On this propitious day, He called on all to rededicate to strive towards the goal for bringing peace, prosperity and progress in every household of the State. “May the coming New Year dispel the dark and bring in light to the State for a better future”, he added.
Chief Minister N Biren Singh in his message said that the festival marks the onset of a new year and celebrates and strengthens the bond of love and brotherhood in the family. On this occasion, married women give presents o their parents and brothers, and youth seek the blessings of their elders.
On this auspicious occasion, CM Biren called upon all “to work hard together with renewed vigour and dedication to take the State towards greater height of development and resolve to live together, give respect to one another and preserve the rich culture and tradition we have inherited from our ancestors”.
Speaker of the Manipur Legislative Assembly, Thokchom Satyabrata, Power Minister Th Biswajit and other leaders also greeted the people of the state on Cheiraoba.
