Kolkata: West Bengal Governor Jagdeep Dhankhar has invited TMC chairperson Mamata Banerjee for the oath-taking ceremony as the chief minister on May 5 at Raj Bhavan.
Earlier in the evening Banerjee tendered her resignation to the governor as the her 2nd term of chief minister after the newly elected TMC legislators unanimously elected her as their leader.
“Taking note of communication @AITCofficial electing @MamataOfficial as leader of 17th WB Legislative Assembly have invited her to take oath of office of Chief Minister on May 5 at 10.45 am at Raj Bhawan,” the governor tweeted.
“In view of the current Covid situation, the function will be with a limited audience,” the governor added.
Meanwhile, TMC’s newly elected legislators on Monday elected Mamata Banerjee as their leader.
Banerjee visited Rajbhawan to call on governor Jagdeep Dhankar to submit her resignation and produce a list of the winning TMC legislators to claim to form the next government.
