Imphal: Governor of Manipur, Ajay Kumar Bhalla, attended the inaugural function of the National Conference on Implications of Climate Change & Conservation of Natural Resources and Cultural Heritage 2025, at the auditorium of Manipur University, Imphal.
Speaking at the event, the Governor said climate change is one of the most pressing global challenges of our time, affecting not only our natural ecosystem but also our rich cultural heritage. These changing impacts have greatly affected the rich flora and fauna of Manipur, and it is our shared responsibility to take care of these resources for future generations. He further stated that the Government of India and the State Government are working together and taking proactive steps to mitigate the effects of climate change.
Governor Bhalla said that the fight against climate change, the conservation of natural resources and cultural heritage are inherently intertwined. Recognizing these connections, the Government has made significant strides through its policies and initiatives in mitigating climate change.He also highlighted many initiatives taken up by the Government of India under the able guidance of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, such as ‘One World, One Sun, One Grid’, and the Swachh Bharat Mission.
The Governor appealed to the students to acknowledge the impact of climate change and to act as the ambassadors to carry the message of conserving natural resources so as to develop a sustainable future.
He also inspected the various facilities at the Department of Botany and interacted with the students. PCCF, Anurag Bajpai and Prof. N. Lokendra Singh, VC, MU, among others attended the inaugural session of the conference.
