Imphal: Expressing concern over the ongoing situation in Manipur since May 3, the All Manipur Gorkha Students Union (AMGSU) has appealed to all concerned communities residing in the state to stay away from any violence and come together for a long lasting peaceful solution.
The union also appealed to the state and central government to short out the misunderstanding between the two communities and find out an early solution, so that future unavoidable activities can be prevented and mutual respect and peace harmony will endure in the state in the coming days.
Stating that all grievances and misunderstandings can be addressed and solved through dialogue by sitting across the table, the student body extends its heartfelt condolences to those who lost their family members in the violence, including one Gorkha/Nepali killed at Serou and pays for the speedy recovery of all the injured persons.
AMGSU said the loss of precious lives and destruction of valuable properties including houses and places of worship was regrettable.
It further said the violence will not bring any better outcome, rather it will bring more death and misery and added that the government is the sole responsible authority to bring an amicable and peaceful solution in the state.
AMGSU further appealed to the authority concerned to arrange the security and resettlement to the displaced families, and provide free education to the affected students.
