Gold worth Rs 3 cr seized in Manipur border

The auto-rickshaw driver was apprehended and handed over to the Department of Revenue Intelligence, Moreh for further legal action along with the seized gold.

Imphal: Moreh Battalion foiled cross border smuggling of gold at Moreh on October 6 and seized gold worth Rs 3.1 crore.

Assam Rifles official Friday said based on a specific input, troops of Assam Rifles launched an operation and intercepted an autorickshaw moving suspiciously in Moreh.

On thorough checking of the vehicle, approximately 6.63 Kg of gold was recovered. The cost of the smuggled gold was appreciated to be Rs 3.1
Crore.
