Four of family get capital punishment for honour killing

After killing the woman, the family members were trying to perform her last rites, however, the police got the tip-off of the incident and managed to recover the body of the deceased.

Koderma: A local court in the district awarded death sentence to four members of a family for honour killing.

The Sessions Judge (first) Rama Shankar Singh awarded the death punishment to father of the deceased woman Kishan Sahu (43), his wife Dulari Devi (35), uncle of the woman Sitaram Sahu (40) and Parvathi Devi (38).

Three years ago, a case of honour killing was reported from Madangundi under Chandwara police station area of this district where the family members had strangulated their daughter to death after she had married to a man who belonged to other caste. After killing the woman, the family members were trying to perform her last rites, however, the police got the tip-off of the incident and managed to recover the body of the deceased.

She had married the man from the same village. As the family members were against the marriage, both of them fled to Rajasthan and had got married.

Later, they returned back to their village where it was decided that the matter will be sorted out through a village panchayat but before the panchayat could be convene, the girl was found dead under mysterious circumstances on the night of March 26, 2018.
