Kolkata: Former CPI(M) MLA Tonmoy Bhattacharya on Saturday received minor injuries at the back of his head when a stone was hurled at him near Khardah Station Road where a by-poll was in progress for Khardah assembly seat in North 24 Parganas.
However, he held a media conference while being nursed for his minor wound and alleged though the polling to four assembly seats, besides Khardah, Santipur in Naida, Gosaba in South 24 Parganas, and Dinhata in Cooch Behar was peaceful in suburban areas, reports of intimidation and booth jamming came from the rural areas.
Over 12 per cent polling was reported in the first two hours since 0700 hours, according to EC officials.
