Imphal: The Federation of Civil Society Organisations (FOCS) in Manipur has urged all indigenous communities committed to the unity of the state, including Kuki groups, to participate in its peace rally scheduled for March 8.
FOCS President Thoidingjam Manihar Singh emphasized that the rally is solely aimed at restoring normalcy and has no hidden agenda. “Anyone who loves and cares for Manipur should join us,” he stated during a press conference on Thursday.
He also welcomed the recent directive from Union Home Minister Amit Shah, instructing the state administration to reopen all roads across Manipur by March 8. However, Manihar criticized certain Kuki groups for misleading their people with demands for a separate administration, which he believes is currently unrealistic. “If they wish to pursue such demands, they should engage directly with the Government of India or the Manipur government, rather than misguiding innocent people,” he asserted.
As part of their movement, the group aims to first travel to Senapati along NH 2, followed by Moreh and then Churachandpur in subsequent phases.
Manihar urged the public to join the rally, which will commence at 9 a.m. from Kangla Northern Gate.
