Vijayawada: In a ghastly accident, five members of a family, including a six-month-old infant, were killed when the car in which they were travelling rammed into a culvert on Vijayawada-Hyderabad National highway at Gowravaram village in Jaggayyapeta mandal of Krishna district in Andhra Pradesh on Sunday.
The accident occurred, when the deceased, residents of HUDA colony in Hyderabad, were proceeding in the car to Jangareddygudem in West Godavari district to attend a family function.
They were identified as Kutumba Rao, his wife Martamma, Santhi, Indira and six-month-old Princee. The driver of the car, who was critically injured in the accident, was admitted to the government hospital in Jaggayyapeta.
Police registered a case and shifted the bodies to the government hospital for post-mortem.
