Itanagar: A couple of days after destroying a major camp of the Eastern Naga National Government (ENNG) near the Indo-Myanmar border in Arunachal Pradesh’s Changlang district, a joint team of Arunachal Pradesh Police (APP) and Assam Police on Saturday arrested three hardcore operatives of the Naga insurgent group from the neighbouring state’s Tinsukia district.
According to a senior police officer, they also recovered a. 32-calibre pistol, two magazines, and 25 rounds of ammunition from the arrested trio.
“As a dedicated follow-up to the ops conducted against the ENNG operatives by the APP at the Lungpang camp, we have successfully conducted raids and managed to apprehend crucial leaders of the organization,” an APP spokesperson said. SP (SIT) Rohit Rajbir Singh, who along with Changlang SP Mihin Gambo led a joint team that engaged with insurgents in a daring operation and destroyed their camp at the Indo-Myanmar border on Thursday, he said.

The arrestees have been identified as self-styled (SS) leader general secretary Chailai Ngodam, SS Major Shewang Hodong, and cadre Hongam Ngodam, the SP said.
Singh also said that due to consistent pressure mounted by the APP, one ENNG cadre, identified as Wanong Sumta, was made to surrender to the joint team of SFs, with a 0.22-bore pistol.
“Further interrogation is on, and appropriate legal action is being taken,” the SP added.
On the other hand, the Indian Army, along with Changlang Police, apprehended two active cadres of the Eastern Naga National Government (ENNG) outfit.
Troops from the Red Shield Division carried out the operation under the auspices of Spear Corps in response to specific information about the movement of suspected cadres armed with weapons in Bordumsha, Arunachal Pradesh’s Changlang district.
The apprehended persons were identified as, self-styled, Sargent Nanu Tamang, 34, a resident of Kharsang, and self-styled Private Tansing Langching, 34, also a resident of Kharsang. Both cadres were found with two Point-blank.32 mm pistols and ammunition.
During joint interrogation, the cadres confessed to having links with senior cadres in the Lumpang ENNG training camp. The apprehended individuals were handed over to the Police for further investigations, said a press note from the PRO (Defence), Kohima & Imphal.
