Imphal: The First Randomisation of EVMs and VVPATs on EVM Management System (EMS 2.0) for use in the upcoming 18th Lok Sabha, 2024 General Election was successfully conducted on Saturday in various district headquarters of Manipur
In Imphal West district it was held Saturday at Kombirei Hall, Deputy Commissioner’s Office Complex, Lamphelpat, Imphal West.
The event was chaired by Th. Kirankumar, District Election Officer, Imphal West District, and was attended by Md Shamim Shah, ADM and Samson Huidrom, AC to DC-I (Nodal Officer – Material Management), and AROs along with representatives from recognised political parties operating within the Imphal West district attended the event.
In Kangpokpi, the event was conducted in the presence of representatives of National and State recognised political parties at the Conference Hall, DC Office Complex, Kangpokpi Headquarters.
District Election Officer (DEO)/DC Mahesh Chaudhari, briefed the political parties and district election officials on familiarisation of the assigned task on execution, assessment and randomization of EVMs and VVPATs.
There are 166 total number of polling stations and 24 Special Polling Stations, which are meant for Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs).
Nodal Officer for EVM/VVPAT Management informed that the EVM and VVPATs were randomized and allotted for the three assembly constituencies — 46-Saikul (ST), 50-Kangpokpi and 51-Saitu (ST).
For Kangpokpi district, the first randomization of Electronic Voting Machines (EVM) and Voter Verifiable Paper Audit Trail (VVPAT) for the upcoming Lok Sabha Elections 2024 was held at DC Office complex today. The randomization was carried out in the presence of DEO Pherzawl Asish Das, Addl. DEO, AROs, Nodal Officer for EVM Management and representatives of political parties.
Prior to randomization, political party representatives were provided with a briefing on the purpose and process of EVM/VVPAT randomization. Copy of the randomization report was also shared to party representatives after the randomization.
