New Delhi: Congress leader Rahul Gandhi on Monday attacked the BJP-led government at the Centre, saying the “exploitative” dispensation does not like satyagraha by farmers.

In a tweet in Hindi, he wrote, “Farmers’ non-violent satyagraha is intact even today, but the exploitative government does not like this. That is why today is Bharat Bandh.”

The Congress leader ended his tweet by saying, “I stand with farmers.”

Congress has extended full support to ‘Bharat Bandh’ called by the farmer’s organisations seeking repeal of the three agricultural laws enacted in September last year.

The three laws — The Farmers’ Produce Trade and Commerce (Promotion and Facilitation) Act, 2020, The Farmers (Empowerment and Protection) Agreement of Price Assurance and Farm Services Act, 2020, and The Essential Commodities (Amendment) Act 2020 — were passed by Parliament last year. The Centre has been projecting the three laws as major agricultural reforms.

The bandh began at 6 am on Monday and will continue till 4 pm.
