Chandigarh: Former Army chief Gen J J Singh joined the BJP in the presence of Union Minister Gajendra Singh Shekhawat here on Tuesday.
Both Shekhawat and Punjab BJP President Ashwani Sharma welcomed the former Army chief into the party fold.
General J J Singh had joined the Shiromani Akali Dal in 2017 and had unsuccessfully contested against Capt Amarinder Singh from Patiala during the 2017 Assembly elections. He left the SAD in 2018.
He had also served as the Governor of Arunachal Pradesh.
