Elephants crush a woman to death in Chatra

The villagers said that despite informing the forest department no one turned up at the village. The kin of the deceased has demanded compensation.

Chatra: A group of wild elephants today created havoc in Turi Mohallah in Barwadih under Tandwa forest area in this district.
The elephants first damaged the homes and also threw away the goods and food grains kept in the homes. Further, they crushed to death a woman Jamuni Devi (55) who was sleeping. Another woman sustained serious head injuries.
The villagers said that despite informing the forest department no one turned up at the village. The kin of the deceased has demanded compensation.
