Imphal: Eight government school teachers have been suspended for not attending school, Tuesday. All the eight teachers are presently posted at Lamdeng Government High School under Lamsang Assembly Constituency.
The teachers were found absent while Education Minister S. Rajen Singh paid a surprise visit to the school. The Minister informed this while speaking to the media at his office at South Block, Old Secretariate, here.
He said that while conducting a surprise visit at Lamdeng High School Tuesday, they were found absent. Suspension process of eight more teachers of Lamlong Higher Secondary School who have been found absent during the surprise visit is under process, he added.
The Minister also interacted with the representatives of the agitating college teachers regarding the implementation of 7th Pay prior to the press conference. During the interaction, Minister Rajen assured of fulfilling their demand within the month of March, 2021.
Minister also appealed the college teachers to resume to their normal work since there is a very limited duration for conducting classes before the semester exams. He also reminded that semister exams have been fixed in the month of April this year.
Commissioner, Hr. and Technical Education, M. Harekrisna, IAS, Director, Education (U), Dr. Rangitabali Waikhom, IAS, were also present during the press meet.
