Itanagar: Ahead of the 2024 elections, the poll panel on Friday issued the schedule for Special Summary Revision of Electoral Rolls with reference to January 1, 2024 as qualifying date, in all 60 Assembly constituencies of Arunachal Pradesh.

As per the programme released by the Election Commission of India (ECI), the electoral rolls revision exercise will be conducted in two stages – pre-revision activities and revision activity.

The pre-revision activities are like, improvement in the health of electoral roll in campaign mode for removal of all logical errors and standardization of addresses and checking quality of photographs as well as removal of discrepancies in EPICs (electoral photo identity cards).

The objective of this revision is to create an error-free updated electoral roll at the level of each polling station, Arunachal Pradesh Chief Electoral Officer (CEO) said on Friday.

The schedule for special summary revision include: publication of draft electoral roll: October 27, period of filing claims & objections from October 27 to December 9, Special Campaign dates: November 4 & 5 and 25 & 26, disposal of claims and objections by December 26, checking of health parameters and obtaining Commission’s permission for final publication, and updating database and printing of supplements: January 1, 2024, and final publication of E-roll on January 5.

The CEO said, all 60 Electoral Registration Officers (EROs) under the supervision of 22 District Election Officers (DEOs) of Arunachal Pradesh are responsible to carry out the Special Summary Revision in the State.

Altogether 2226 (including 6 new) polling stations, manned by Booth Level Officers (BLOs) will witness the execution of activities including publication of draft electoral roll; distribution and collection of forms for voter’s registration, deletion of multiple enrollments, dead and permanently shifted voters through online service (https://voters.eci.gov.in/).

In Arunachal Pradesh, 8,56,187 electors including 4,20,954 male and 4,35,228 female voters have enrolled their names in the draft electoral roll, out of which 28,530 (14,419 males & 14,111 females) are in 18-19 years age group, 4,576 (male-2,376 & female-2,200) PwDs, five transgenders and 10,078 (male-5009 & female-5069) voters are above 80+ years. Citizens those who have attained 18 years age as on 1.1.2024 as qualifying date can avail this opportunity to enroll their name in the electoral roll in Form-6. Form-7 is for deletion of duplicate or dead or permanently shifted electors. Any corrections or transposition or replacement of EPIC can be done in Form-8.

All these can be done through online service “Voter’s service portal” or through BLOs assigned against each polling booth.

On account of draft publication of electoral roll, a State level meeting of all political parties was convened in the office of State CEO here toay in which the representatives of all recognized political parties participated and assured their full cooperation to achieve an error free and healthy electoral roll in the state.

In the meeting, a soft copy of draft Electoral Roll was also shared with all the political parties in attendance. Further, the political parties were requested to play a proactive role in the ground level by appointing BLA (Booth Level Agents) against each polling booth in all the Assembly constituencies, the CEO added.
