Drug seized in Manipur

In the first incident a team of 2nd Bn. Manipur Rifles and volunteers of Youth Athletic Development Association (YADA) rushed to Sanju Bakery at Yaishkul Janmasthan, Imphal West and seized five kg of ice drug.

Imphal: Manipur Police and troops seized drugs in two separate incidents on Monday at Imphal West and the border town of Moreh.

In the first incident a team of 2nd Bn. Manipur Rifles and volunteers of Youth Athletic Development Association (YADA) rushed to Sanju Bakery at Yaishkul Janmasthan, Imphal West and seized five kg of ice drug. 

Police said the drug was seized from one Bishnu Banik a resident of Muslim Nagar, Moreh.

Five packets of Crystal Methamphetamines (also known as Ice drugs) weighing about 5 kg were seized from him. 

He revealed that he got the drug from one Karim of Imphal East. It was supposed to be delivered to one Lala for taking it outside the state.

In another incident a joint team of 2nd Bn. Manipur Rifles, Commando of Kakching Police, 5 Assam Rifles and Moreh Police conducted search at ward No.8, Moreh in the border town and recovered 5,50,000 Myanmar currency, Rs 78,070 and 2.331 Kg of WY Tablets numbering around 20,600 pieces.

Police said the residents of the area tried to mobilize a mob which resulted in the escaping of the owners of the drug from the area.
