Churachandpur: In an attempt to give exposure to unemployed youth, job seekers, and students to several skill development programmes under various schemes and departments, the District Skill Committee in Churachandpur organised a one-day District Skill Mela, 2023, under the Sankalp Scheme on Monday at the Multipurpose Hall, DC Complex, Tuibong.
Addressing the gathering as the chief guest, Additional Deputy Commissioner, Churachandpur Thienlaljoy Gangte, highlighted the importance of skilling and encouraged the youth, especially students, to get benefit from the programme by enrolling themselves in skilling/training courses to enhance their overall employability in all available avenues.
Such a skill development programme assumes greater significance as all job seekers cannot rely on government jobs alone. As such, students should explore avenues in entrepreneurship too. For this, they should prioritise skill development, he said.
The chief guest also inspected the stalls and interacted with the participants.
About 24 firms, including some government departments, opened booths where they reached out to job seekers, potential entrepreneurs, and students.
