District level Yoga olyampiad 2026 held in Kakching

A total of thirteen students were selected to represent Kakching district at the State Level Yoga Olympiad to be held from May 7 - 9, 2026.

Kakching: In an initiative to promote yoga as part of holistic education, District Level Yoga Olympiad 2026 was held today at Kakching Higher Secondary School organised by the Zonal Education Office, Kakching. A total of thirteen students were selected to represent Kakching district at the State Level Yoga Olympiad to be held from May 7 – 9, 2026.

In the middle stage boys category, Golmeiga Golmei (Class VIII) of Kakching Model H/S secured first position, followed by Pebam Athoiba Singh (Class VII) of Langmeidong Higher Secondary School in second place. Thingnam Indrapal Singh (Class VII)  of Kakching Khunou H/S and Chongtham Lanleiba Singh(Class VII) of Langmeidong Higher Secondary School secured third and fourth positions respectively.

In the middle stage girls category, Mamta Thokchom (Class VII), Naorem Langlen Devi (Class VII), Julee Mayengbam (Class VI) and Nelishi Yengkhom (Class VII), all the students from Kakching Higher Secondary School, secured first, second, third and fourth positions respectively.

In the secondary stage boys category, Shougaijam Bidyananda Singh (Class IX), Mayengbam Ayush Singh (Class IX), Laishram Premit Singh (Class IX) and Nongmaithem Malemthoiba Singh (Class IX), of Kakching Higher Secondary School, secured first, second, third and fourth positions respectively.

Salam Rina Devi (Class IX) of Kakching Khunou H/S secured first position in the secondary stage girls category at the event, judged by Naorem Ibomcha (Level-1 National), Shri Naorem Aken Singh (Level-3 National) and Moirangthem Jibanlata Devi (Level-2 National).

The programme was also attended by ZEO Kakching, DI Kakching, AI Kakching, Principal Kakching Higher Sec School and Vice Principal Kakching Higher Sec School.

The District Level Yoga Olympiad is a school-level initiative of the Ministry of Education, implemented by NCERT. It encourages students to practise asanas, pranayama and related activities for physical and mental well-being,” while also serving as a selection stage for higher-level competitions.
