District Computer Centre inaugurated to empower youth with digital skills at Cachar

Silchar: The much-anticipated District Computer Centre, Cachar, was officially inaugurated at Government Boys’ Higher Secondary School silchar on Friday, marking a significant step in bridging the digital divide and empowering students and the general public with quality computer education.

 The grand event was graced by District Commissioner (DC) and Chairman of the District Computer Centre, Cachar, Mridul Yadav, who led the inauguration alongside Additional District Commissioner (ADC) in charge of Education, Antara Sen, and Inspector of Schools, Cachar, Ganesh Harijan.

In his keynote address, DC Mridul Yadav emphasized the importance of digital literacy in today’s job market. He highlighted the government’s initiative under the 11th Finance Commission, which aims to establish computer training centers in every district headquarters of Assam. “Technology is the future, and by providing affordable and quality computer education, we are ensuring that no student is left behind in this digital revolution. This centre will serve as a launchpad for young minds, equipping them with essential skills for a competitive world,” DC Yadav stated.

ADC Antara Sen, addressing the gathering, underscored the role of technology in modern education and the government’s commitment to making digital learning accessible to all. She noted, “This initiative is not just about learning computers; it is about creating opportunities, fostering innovation, and making our youth job-ready in an evolving global economy.”

Speaking on the occasion, Inspector of Schools, Ganesh Harijan, who also serves as the In-Charge of the District Computer Centre, shed light on the structure and curriculum of the training program. He highlighted that AMTRON, the nodal agency, will oversee the curriculum and examinations, ensuring a high standard of training. “From practical training in air-conditioned classrooms to hands-on experience in data entry work, this centre offers a well-rounded learning environment. Students will not only acquire essential IT skills but will also receive government-certified credentials that enhance their employability,” he remarked.

Its worthy to be mentioned here that the District Computer Centre, Cachar, boasts state-of-the-art infrastructure with 50 personal computers, separate smart classrooms, air-conditioning, power backup, CCTV surveillance, and dedicated restroom facilities. The centre will offer affordable courses aligned with market demands, enabling students to gain valuable digital proficiency without financial burden.

Another highlight of the program is its hands-on approach, allowing students to engage in real-time data entry work while undergoing training. Upon completion of their courses, students will receive government-certified certificates co-signed by the District Commissioner, adding credibility to their skills.

The inauguration event concluded with a resounding commitment from all dignitaries to promote and support digital education in Cachar. The District Computer Centre is now open for enrollment, offering students and professionals a golden opportunity to enhance their IT skills and secure a brighter future.

With the establishment of this Centre, Cachar takes a firm step toward technological advancement, ensuring digital literacy reaches every corner of the district.
