Discharge of 14,672 cusecs of water per second still continue from Jayakwadi for the 16th consecutive day

Aurangabad: The irrigation authorities of one of the biggest dams ‘Jayakwadi’ at Paithan still continue discharge of excess flooded 14,672 cusecs water into downstream of river Godavari following equal inflow from upstream dams catchment areas in Nashik district, official sources said.

According to them, at 0600 hours, all the 18 gates opened and water at a speed of 14,672 cusecs per second continued discharging, they said.

Presently, the dam is maintaining 100 per cent stock with a height of 1522 feet and 463.906 in meters, they stated.

Jayakwadi dam, known as the lifeline of the Marathwada region having a capacity of 102 TMC, supplies water to Aurangabad, Jalna, three industrial estates, around 250 villages and about 1.85 lakh hectare irrigation lands in four districts of the Marathwada region.

It may be noted that since September 29 water has been discharged from the dam.

Over 500 TMC water till today discharged from this dam during the above said period.

The District administration had already issued alerts in all the villages around the bay of the river and warned them not to venture near the river.
