Agartala: Amid the Covid 19 Pandemic, North Tripura reported a rising trend of Dengue virus infection.

This is for the first time such a large number of dengue cases reported in the state.

Before Covid-19, Tripura had a record of large scale malaria incidences mostly in the bordering areas along with common summer diseases and gastroenteritis every year. However, dengue cases appeared to be a new menace for the state, which made the health department stressed.

The health officials here stated as many as 76 dengue cases were reported from the Atharabhola and Killa area of Udaipur of Gomati district in a week.

Altogether 28 out of 44 dengue patients who came from Killa have already been recovered and three others were referred to Agartala Govt Medical College. One case has so far been detected in the Bampur area of Amarpur in the district.

The department raised an alarm across the state and directed up to Primary Health Centre level to be extra vigilant on the suspected cases and advised, “To increase the diagnostic tests for the patients coming with fever and related ailments. The activities of ASHA workers and other health extension staff to be strengthened further involving panchayats.”

Earlier, at least 52 dengue cases were reported in the Kumarghat sub-division of the Unokoti district in the last week of October. However, the situation had improved following the measures adopted by the department, claimed officials.
