Thoubal: Deputy Commissioner A. Subhash Singh chaired a meeting to review various schemes and projects undertaken by different departments in the district.
The meeting, held in the Conference Hall of the Deputy Commissioner on Tuesday, also celebrated the successful conduct of the 18th Lok Sabha Elections, 2024. Commissioner Singh commended the officers involved and urged all departments to maximize cooperation, especially for projects requiring inter-departmental collaboration.
The review covered a wide range of departmental initiatives, including those from Education, PHED, PWD, DSWO, SSP, CMO, and others. Key decisions from the meeting included:
- Monitoring COTPA Act, 2023: It was agreed to strictly enforce the Cigarettes and Other Tobacco Products Act around educational institutions in the district.
- Jal Jeevan Mission (JJM): The mission aims to provide safe and adequate drinking water through individual household tap connections while maintaining source sustainability. The current implementation rate is 87.7%, and the meeting resolved to achieve 100% implementation in Anganwadi and other public institutions.
- Joint Action Plan of NCPCR: The implementation of the National Commission for Protection of Child Rights’ plan was reviewed. It was decided to periodically inspect medical and pharmacy shops and raise awareness about child rights, particularly in educational institutions.
- Welfare Schemes for Minorities: The various schemes implemented by the central and state governments for the welfare of minorities were discussed. It was emphasized that information about these schemes should be proactively disseminated to ensure effective implementation in the district.
The meeting underscored the importance of collaborative efforts and proactive measures to enhance the welfare and development of the district.
