New Delhi: Social media users couldn’t control their laughter after a petitioner moved the Punjab and Haryana High Court, seeking legal action against UK’s Prince Harry for allegedly not fulfilling his “promise to marry” her. Prince Harry trended on the internet after the bizarre petition came up for hearing at the Punjab and Haryana High Court as the petitioner sought an arrest warrant against the Duke of Sussex.

The Punjab High Court has dismissed the petition, terming it as nothing “but a daydreamer’s fantasy,” and as the matter rounded up, netizens had a hearty laugh over it and flooded Twitter with hilarious jokes and memes, India Today reported.

What was the petition all about?

Palwinder Singh, an advocate, filed the petition and in fact, appeared for the hearing herself. Live Law reports that the court noted that the petition was poorly drafted and mentioned emails that were allegedly sent by Prince Harry, wherein he had stated that he promised to marry the petitioner soon.

What was the final verdict?

The court dismissed the petition saying, “This Court finds no ground to entertain this petition and can only show its sympathy for the petitioner that she has believed such fake conversation to be true. It is a well-known fact that fake IDs are created on various social media sites like Facebook, Twitter etc. There is every possibility that so-called Prince Harry may be sitting in a cyber-cafe of a village in Punjab.”

The court of Justice Arvind Singh Sangwan observed that it was “nothing but a daydreamer’s fantasy about marrying Prince Harry”.

How did the internet react?

Several users were absolutely surprised after reading about the petition while on the other hand, many others posted funny tweets. The memes were quite hilarious as well.

“I will also ask to take action against Taylor Swift, Scarlett Johansson, Margot Robbie, Kristen Stewart, Emma Roberts and Emma Watson for not fulfilling an alleged promise to marry me in Disneyland,” a user said.

Several others, on the other hand, enjoyed the news as a comment reads, “Just what you need to kickstart a cold crispy morning.”

In a sarcastic remark, a Twitter user said, “Thank God. No serious implications for Prince Harry. What a sigh of relief.”

We also found a major LOL moment as a user said, “Initially I thought it’s some Harry Bhai from Punjab.”

Here’s another comment that reads, “Love is blind.” Well, well!

The petition also was flooded with grammatical errors and one such line referred to Prince Harry as “Prince Harry Middleton.”

“First of all who is Prince Harry Middleton,” a user said. Another comment reads, “Can’t believe he chose Meghana over me! I was his Pyaari Pallu.”
