Covid claims three more lives in Arunachal, death toll at 72

According to the bulletin, out of the new positive cases, Itanagar Capital Complex reported the highest at 66, Changlang 38 and Lohit 27.

Itanagar: Arunachal Pradesh Covid-19 death toll rose to 72 as three more patients succumbed to the virus, while 257 people were infected in the last 24 hours, taking the tally to 21,110.

As per the bulletin issued by the state Directorate of Health Services, of the three casualties, the first was reported from West Siang district. A 35-year-old man from Pakam expired on Thursday at DCHC, Aalo. The patient was diagnosed with alcoholic liver disease and Covid-19 infection and died due to renal and hepatic failure.

The second casualty was reported from Itanagar Capital Region. A 50-year-old diabetic patient with a history of cough and fever for 10 days was brought to the casualty department, TRIHMS, Naharlagun on Thursday morning in serious condition. She expired immediately on arrival and rapid antigen test (RAT) done was positive for Covid-19.

A 56-year-old woman from Nari, Lower Siang district, who was referred from Bakin Pertin General Hospital, Pasighat on May 1 with severe symptomatic Covid-19 expired on Friday at DCH, Pasighat. She expired due to Covid pneumonia.

According to the bulletin, out of the new positive cases, Itanagar Capital Complex reported the highest at 66, Changlang 38 and Lohit 27.

Barring 59, all the patients are asymptomatic.

On a positive note, 180 patients were discharged following their recovery from the virus in the last 24 hours, taking the total recoveries to 18,871.
