Guwahati: The Assam Government on Monday started the covid-19 vaccination drive for students in the 15-18 age group.
Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma started the vaccination drive in a school at oil town Dulijan in Upper Assam.
The Assam government has set a seven day target to get the students vaccinated across the state.
On the first day, around 1 lakh students in 500 schools and educational institutions will be vaccinated.
The students will be vaccinated with Covaxin and the second dose will be given to them within 28 to 42 days.
The drive is also aimed towards vaccinating the students before the board and council examinations.
It may be mentioned that the HSLC and HS exams in Assam are scheduled from March 15 this year and the department of education has announced that this year the exams will be held offline.
