New Delhi: The Delhi High Court on Friday directed Congress leaders Jairam Ramesh, Pawan Khera, and Netta D’Souza to delete within 24 hours tweets they had put out alleging that BJP leader Smriti Irani’s daughter was allegedly running a restaurant in Goa with a fake bar license.

Union Minister Irani sent a legal notice to the three Congress leaders demanding an unconditional apology and an immediate withdrawal of the allegations against her daughter. She said her daughter’s name does not figure in any document.

Counsel on behalf of Irani submitted that the false allegations hurt the reputation of the Minister and a person in public life and outraged their modesty.

The court asked them to appear before it on August 18.
