Shillong: A special court for Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act in Meghalaya has convicted and sentenced a man to 10 years rigorous imprisonment for repeatedly raping a mentally challenged minor girl, the official said on Saturday.
The court of Special Judge (POCSO), Williamnagar on March 15 sentenced Rikjang D Marak to 10 (ten) years of rigorous imprisonment with a fine of Rs. 2000 for an offence under POCSO Act.
Rikjang was awarded 10 years of rigorous imprisonment in connection with a case filed in Williamnagar Police Station for raping a mentally challenged minor girl when she was alone in her house on September 19, 2018.
