Couple killed in road mishap in Arunachal’s Kamle

Itanagar: In yet another tragic road accident, a couple was killed and two other persons seriously injured when the vehicle they were travelling in skidded off the road and fell into a deep gorge in Kamle district of Arunachal Pradesh on Monday, police said on Tuesday.

The deceased have been identified as 35-year-old Makka Ligu and his wife Gumri Yedi Ligu (31).

The mishap occurred at a remote place between Godak and Bopi villages under Puchi-Geko circle of Kamle district while the four-wheeler (Maruti S-Presso) with four people on board was moving towards Daporijo in Upper Subansiri district from Naharlagun.

Circle inspector Ige Lollen said, the woman died on the spot while her husband succumbed to his injuries at the District Hospital, Daporijo where he was admitted after being rescued by the locals. The other two passengers in serious condition were also admitted at the District Hospital.

They are likely to be airlifted to TRIHMS, Naharlagun for further treatment tomorrow, one of their family members said. Meanwhile, Raga MLA Tarin Dakpe has condoled the demise of the couple.

“I am extremely shocked and saddened to hear of their untimely demise. I know them very well; they are like my children. I have seen them since their childhood,” he said and conveyed his heartfelt condolence to the bereaved family and prayed to almighty God to give them the fortitude to bear the irreparable loss.
