Imphal: Union Minister of State for Textiles and Railways,. Darshana Vikram Jardosh, Thursday interacted with the media in the state on the various developmental projects taken up by the Government during a press conference held at Hotel Imphal.
Briefing the media persons, the Union Minister expressed her satisfaction with the projects taken up by the state government. There is a major development in the projects implemented by the Central Government. The seminar on technical textiles conducted recently with the stakeholders provides a good result in bringing forward in a sustainable manner, she added.
Minister Darshana continued that the railway projects have been developing smoothly and 50 percent of the work of the World’s tallest railway bridge has been completed. Construction of World class Imphal Station keeping the natural habitat has been going in full swing.
She further added that there are plans to construct low-budget hotels where there is natural attractiveness in every station of the railway line projects keeping in view of tourism development in the state. Minister said that full support will be provided to the state government in implementing the projects successfully.
In connection with handloom and handicrafts, the Minister said that works related to handloom and handicrafts mainly involve women next to agricultural work in the state. There is an indication of firm coordination with the state and the central government in taking up the schemes successfully regarding handloom and handicrafts. There are 3 handloom products that got GI Tag will be easier for international business with countries having bilateral relations. For running a smooth internal business, training will be provided by the concerned department to the handloom and handicrafts artisans of the state for the global demands, she said.
Further, the Union Minister said that keeping in view of the recent unfortunate landslide at Tupul, Noney District, there has been restructuring of the construction work. IIT companies have done research on techniques regarding cabling, electrification and to avoid disaster in the future. A warning system will also be utilized to make the people alert if any such incidents are likely to occur.
