Congress suspends Preneet Kaur for ‘anti-party’ activities

New Delhi: The Congress on Friday suspended its MP from Punjab’s Patiala, Preneet Kaur for allegedly indulging in “anti-party” activities, a party leader said here.

The decision in this regard was taken by the Congress’ Disciplinary Action Committee (DAC) following a complaint by Punjab Congress chief Amarinder Singh Raja to party’s national president Mallikarjun Kharge, alleging that Kaur “is indulging in anti-party activities to help BJP”, as per a communique issued by Tariq Anwar, Member Secretary of DAC.

“The DAC carefully considered it (the complaint) and decided that Preneet Kaur should be suspended from the party with immediate effect ,” the statement said.

The Congress has also asked Kaur to explain within three days as to why she should not be expelled from the party, it added.
