Congress forms committees to implement Udaipur declaration

The party also announced Task Force 2024 and a Central Planning Group for the 'Bharat Jodo Yatra'. Members of the Task Force also held an informal meeting on Tuesday.

New Delhi: Days after its Udaipur declaration for revival of the Congress which has suffered a series of electoral defeats, the party on Tuesday announced three committees to implement the recommendations made at its Chintan Shivir, including a Political Affairs Committee which will be headed by party President Sonia Gandhi. 

The party also announced Task Force 2024 and a Central Planning Group for the ‘Bharat Jodo Yatra’. Members of the Task Force also held an informal meeting on Tuesday. 

The Political Affairs Committee has Rahul Gandhi, Mallikarjun Kharge and Ghulam Nabi Azad as its members. The eight-member committee also has Ambika Soni, K C Venugopal, Digvijay Singh, Anand Sharma, and Jitendra Singh.

P Chidambaram, Priyanka Gandhi, Jairam Ramesh are among members of the Task Force. It also has Mukul Wasnik, K C Venugopal, Ajay Maken, Randeep Singh Surjewala and Sunil Kanugolu.

“The first meeting of Task Force 2024 took place today itself. We have decided to meet every 72 hours, and we will prepare detailed plans on each of the subjects,” Congress’ Chief Spokesperson Randeep Singh Surjewala said. 

Each member of the Task Force will be assigned specific tasks related to organisation, communication and media, outreach, finance and election management, the Congress said. It will also follow up on the Udaipur ‘Nav Sankalp’ declaration.

The Central planning group for coordination of Bharat Jodo Yatra has Digvijay Singh, Sachin Pilot and Shashi Tharoor among members. Ravneet Singh Bittu, K J George, Jothi Mani, Pradyut Bordoloi, Jitu Patwari and Saleem Ahmed are also in the group.

Members of the task force and all frontal organisations are also ex-officio members of this group.
