Imphal: The Congress party has expelled Salam Joy Singh, candidate for Wangoi Assembly constituency for anti party activities.
Congress leaders said this must be the first time a Congress candidate has been expelled just one day ahead of election .
T Mangibabu, Working President in an order said,”In regards of continuously receiving reports from the Congress workers and leaders of 22 – Wangoi Assembly Constituency including some viral videos, there are prima facie evidence against you for breach of “DISCIPLINARY RULES” provided under Article XIX of the Constitution of Indian National Congress (INC) read with Clause (h) of ‘MISCELLANEOUS’ provided under Article XXVII of the said Constitution”.
The order added, “And whereas, your indulgence is amount to anti-party activities and committed the offence of Breach of Discipline under Disciplinary Rules of the Constitution of the Indian National Congress (INC). And whereas, taking notice of the above mentioned, as to why disciplinary action should not be taken up against you.
Therefore, you are expelled from the primary membership of the Congress Party with immediate effect.” Wangoi AC where Salam Joy was contesting will go to polls on February 28 in the first phase of elections.
