Congress chief Loken files nomination for Manipur polls

The sixth-time MLA from Nambol, Loken will be contesting against his nearest rival candidate from the BJP, Thounaojam Basanta, son of former Union Minister Th Chaoba.

Imphal: Manipur Pradesh Congress Committee (MPCC) president N Loken on Saturday filed his nomination as an INC candidate from Nambol Assembly Constituency for the 12th Manipur Legislative Assembly election.

Loken filed his nomination paper at the office of RO 24-Nambol AC Khumukcham Renuka in Bishnupur district on the fifth day of nomination of papers for the ensuing state general elections to be held in two phases – on February 27 and March 3.

The sixth-time MLA from Nambol, Loken will be contesting against his nearest rival candidate from the BJP, Thounaojam Basanta, son of former Union Minister Th Chaoba.

Nomination papers will be received till February 8 and scrutiny of nomination papers will be taken up on February 9, while the last date for withdrawal of candidature is February 11, the CEC said.
