Congress announces several committees ahead of Manipur Assembly polls

The announcement comes close in the heels of the exits of several high profile leaders including former State Congress President Govindas Kongthoujam early this month.

Imphal: Congress President Sonia Gandhi on Tuesday approved several proposals made by the Manipur Pradesh Congress Committee ahead of the State Assembly election slated to be held early next year.

“Congress president has approved the proposal of Coordination Committee, Campaign Committee, Pradesh Election Committee, Media Coordination Committee, Manifesto Committee, Public Committee, Finance Committee and Election Management Team of MPCC, said a statement issued by Congress general secretary K C Venugopal.

The announcement comes close in the heels of the exits of several high profile leaders including former State Congress President Govindas Kongthoujam early this month.

The Coordination Committee will work under the chairmanship of Dr Chaltonlien Amo and 14 other members which include N Loken Singh, Interim President, MPCC, O Ibobi Singh, former CM, Gaikhangam CLP leader, TN Haokip, M Okendro, Dr T Meinya, K Ranjit Singh, Th Lokeswar Singh, Ak Mirabai Devi, Kh Joykishan Singh, Alfred Kanngam Arthur, Dr Kh Ratankumar Singh, L Tilotama and A Rahman Khan.

Okram Ibobi Singh will head the Campaign Committee and will have 24 members, which include N Loken Singh, Gaikhangam, TN Haokip, M Okendro, Dr T Meinya, Thangso Baite, K Ranjit Singh, Dr Chaltonlien Amo, Th Lokeshwor Singh, D Korungthang, DD Thaisii, K Meghachandra Singh, Ak Mirabai Devi, Kh Joykishan Singh, Alfred Kanngam Arthur, T Mangibabu Singh, T Manga Vaiphei, Dr Kh Ratankumar Singh, Victor Keishing, O Joy Singh, Vidyapati Senjam, Kh Devabrata Singh, L Tilotama and Hareshwar Goshwami, said the statement.

On the other hand, Pradesh Election Committee will function under the chairmanship of interim MPCC president N Loken Singh with 21 others. They are O Ibobi Singh, Gaikhangam, TN Haokip, Dr T Meinya, K Ranjit Singh, Dr Chaltonlien Amo, Th Lokeshwar Singh, D Korungthang, DD Thaisii, K Meghachandra Singh, Ak Mirabai Devi, Kh Joykishan Singh, Md Fajur Rahim, Alfred Kanngam Arthur, I Hemochandra Singh, T Mangibabu Singh, Dr Kh Ratankumar Singh, T Manga Vaiphei, Vidyapati Senjam, M Prithviraj Singh and Md Amin Shah. AICC incharge, Manipur, AICC Secretary, In Charge Manipur and Heads of all Frontal Organisations of the party will the ex-officio members in the committee, it added.

Media Coordination Committee will work under the chairmanship of Dr Kh Ratankumar Singh with eleven other members, which include Ak Mirabai Devi, Kh Joykishan Singh, K Meghachandra Singh, I Hemochandra Singh, K Devabrata Singh (Convenor), L Tilotama, M Prithviraj Singh, Md Amin Shah, Hareswar Goshwami – Co=Convenor and Md Badrur Rahman.

The Publicity Committee will be headed by Ak Mirabai Devi and worked along with ten other members which include K Meghachandra Singh, as Co-Chairman, Kh Joykishan Singh, Th Lokeshwar Singh, O Surjakumar Singh, M Prithviraj Singh, E Dwijamani Singh, Md Amin Shah, Punnam Rani Wangkhem, Th Sokho George and Malemkhomba Salam.

The notice further informed that the Manifesto Committee will be headed by Gaikhangam as Chairman and ten other members which include Dr T Meinya, DD Thaisii, Ak Mirabai Devi, Alfred Kanngam Aurthur, O Joy Singh, Dr Kh Ratankumar Singh, Kh Devabrata Singh, Md Amin Shah, Hareshwar Goshwami – Convenor and WL Hangshing. However, heads of all frontal organizations, departments and cells will work as ex-officio members.

K Ranjit Singh will work as the head of the Finance Committee and will have nine more members, which include O Ibobi Singh, Gaikhangam, TN Haokip, M Okendro Singh, Dr Chaltonlien Amo, Th Lokeshwar Singh, Ak Mirabai Devi, Alfred Kanngam Arthur and I Hemochandra Singh.

The Election Management Team will be headed by O Ibobi Singh as Chairman and N Loken Singh, Gaikhangam, TN Haokip, M Okendro, K Ranjit Singh, Alfred Kanngam Arthur and Dr Kh Ratankumar Singh will work as members.
