Puducherry: AIADMK (East) Secretary A Anbazhagan on Friday said that Chief Minister N Rangaswamy had proved that the NR Congress-BJP government in the Union Territory was a government functioning for the people by reducing the petrol and diesel prices.
In a statement here, Anbazhagan said the Central government had slashed Excise Duties on petrol and diesel by Rs 5 and Rs 10 a litre respectively.
Subsequent to this, Rangaswamy reduced Rs.7.85 on petrol and Rs.9.08 on diesel by slashing the Value Added Tax (VAT) percentage.
Thanking the Chief Minister, Anbazhagan urged him to ensure that the prices of essential commodities, as well as bus fares, are also reduced.
He also asked the Tamil Nadu government to take steps in this direction.
