Confederation of Newspapers and News Agency Employees meeting in Chandigarh from April 21

The confederation of Newspaper and News Agency Employees Organizations ( Confederation of six major federations of media ) has been at the forefront of battles for rights and concerns of journalists and non-journalists, said Rao in a release here on Monday.

Hyderabad: The Confederation of Newspaper and News Agency Employees Organisation’s annual general meeting will be held in Chandigarh on April 21 and 22, according to Chaladi Purnachandra Rao, national Senior Vice President of All India Newspaper Employees Federation (AINEF).
The confederation of Newspaper and News Agency Employees Organizations ( Confederation of six major federations of media ) has been at the forefront of battles for rights and concerns of journalists and non-journalists, said Rao in a release here on Monday.
It has played an active role in constituting the wage boards for working Journalists and non-journalists and has represented their interests at various forums including the Lok-Sabha Committee for Labour for welfare of employees working in media industry, he said.
To chalk out the strategy to maintain the special status of Working Journalists Act for the newspaper industry, he said the agenda is to study the present state of media and recommend policy initiatives to the government and other stakeholders to make it more responsive towards the society by maintaining the core values of freedom of speech and expression as enshrined in our constitution.
The confederation of Newspaper and News Agency Employees Organization consists with the affiliates of The All India Federation of PTI Employees Unions, Indian Federation of Working Journalists, All India Newspaper Employees Federation , Indian Journalists Union, National Union of Journalists(I), National Federation of Newspaper Employees, UNI Workers Union.
