Imphal: Health & Family Welfare and IPR Minister, Dr. Sapam Ranjan Singh, emphasized the necessity of community and individual involvement in the fight against dengue. He stated that awareness campaigns are crucial to enhancing efforts to control the disease.

Speaking at the Conference Hall of the State Health Society, National Health Mission, Lamphelpat, Imphal, Dr. S. Ranjan stressed the government’s commitment to controlling the spread of dengue. He highlighted that it is everyone’s responsibility to raise awareness on dengue prevention.

Dr. Ranjan mentioned that the Health Department, in collaboration with other departments, has implemented various measures to contain dengue. These measures include fogging in areas where dengue cases have been reported and resource reduction initiatives, supported by ASHA workers and Helpers under the State Malaria Department’s supervision. Awareness programs are also being conducted across multiple platforms, including the press, electronic media, and social media.

The minister pointed out that overhead tanks, groundwater storage tanks, and septic tanks are common breeding sites for the Aedes mosquito. He urged the public to check and eliminate stagnant water around their homes, as it serves as a breeding ground for mosquitoes that spread dengue.

Dr. Ranjan reported that a total of 81 dengue cases have been confirmed to date: 29 in Imphal West, 20 in Imphal East, 13 in Thoubal, 9 in Bishnupur, 3 in Chandel, 1 in Ukhrul, 5 in Kakching, and 1 in Kangpokpi.
