Gangtok: Chief Minister of Sikkim, PS Tamang has extended his greeting on WTD. CM said, “On the occasion of World Tourism Day, I extend my greetings to the people of Sikkim. Sikkim has an abundance of natural resources, a rich landscape, biodiversity, vibrant culture and is home to one of the most hospitable people. Tourism is one of the major sources of employment in our state, guided by the principle of Atithi Devo Bhava, and is an integral part of our culture.

Sikkim has an array of tourist attractions, both natural and man-made, and provides the opportunity for the tourist to experience and explore the pristine nature our state is renowned for. Embarking on our journey to enhance tourism in the state, we have earmarked several projects like Eco-Tourism Pilgrimage Complex in Dodak, West Sikkim, among others.

The pandemic and deeply affected the entire economy, especially the tourism sector in the state. We hope the situation improves in the coming days and we can revive tourism in full swing. Our government has also been providing subsidized loans to our budding entrepreneurs to start their ventures related to tourism.

Similarly, we have also envisioned Visit Sikkim 2022 and Mega Homestay projects to further improve tourism and will add to our initiatives in the years to come.”
