Imphal: Chief Minister N. Biren Singh Thursday inspected the oxygen plant site at Jawaharlal Nehru Institute of Medical Sciences (JNIMS), Imphal where a 10,000 litre Liquid Medical Oxygen (LMO) Cryogenic storage tank would be installed.
The foundation work necessary for installing the tank had already been started and is now almost in the completion stage.
It is reported that the cryogenic tank had reached Silchar and would be in Imphal by tomorrow morning. The plant is likely to start its operation by the 23rd of this month.
The Chief Minister also visited and took stock of the ground situation of another site at Porompat where an Oxygen Plant would be set up too. Liquid Medical Oxygen Cryogenic tanks of 20,000 litre would be installed at the site. The plant will have a refilling capacity of 40 cylinders per hour. The foundation work for the plant will start from today.
Interacting with doctors during the visit at JNIMS, N. Biren said that 100 more ICU beds would be added to the existing COVID Block and instructed the JNIMS authority to speed up the work to instate necessary infrastructure for the same.
Earlier, the Chief Minister also visited Sadbhavna Mandap located at Kyamgei Mayai Leikai, Imphal East District in connection with setting up of a Covid Care Centre. He also visited Modern College Indoor Hall, Porompat where the Government is planning to set up another Covid Care Centre.
During the visit, N. Biren Singh was accompanied by MLA, Khurai AC L. Susindro, MLA, Keirao AC L. Rameshwor, Principal Secretary V. Vumlunmang, Secretary to Chief Minister N. Geoffrey and other officials of the State Government among others.
