Imphal: Chief Minister N. Biren Singh attended a book discussion on “Veer Savarkar: The man who could have prevented partition”, authored by Central Information Commissioner, Uday Mahukar and Chirayu Pandit, at Jawaharlal Nehru Manipur Dance Academy Auditorium, Imphal Friday.
The programme was organised by the Intellectual Forum of North East – Manipur.
Speaking on the occasion, N. Biren stated the book is not just a book but an awareness to the people of our country. He continued that our present generations need to know about the freedom fighters, who had played important roles in making present-day India.
He maintained that under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, the Central Government had taken up certain initiatives to bring up those unsung freedom fighters, who had contributed much in shaping the country, to the knowledge of our youths.
The Chief Minister stressed the need to have discussions and symposiums on our history and certain other issues which would act as a roadmap towards a better Manipur.
He also praised the authors for coming up with such a book that would be knowledge sharing for the people.
